Tinnitus is a disabling medical disorder. Its psychosocial impact is considerable, including anxiety, depression, stress, irritability and problems with concentration and sleep, which have detrimental effects on communication, education, working life and mental health, quality of life and everyday life in general.

The cerebral bases of tinnitus and its consequences for auditory health have received a lot of attention in the scientific literature. However, the relationship between the brain malfunction, the psychological processes and clinical signs of tinnitus are still not properly understood.

This interdisciplinary study carried out by Professors Severine Samson and Alain Londero aims to better understand the mechanisms that lead to tinnitus, while rigorously evaluating the hearing, psycho-emotional and cognitive behavior of sufferers from this hearing disorder.
