TELEMIC 1: Monitoring of cochlear implants in elderly patients in their homes and in children in their everyday environment

Contenu
Body

Project status: closed

Monitoring of these persons with cochlear implants requires follow-up at least once a year for two reasons: to detect rare complications, in particular cutaneous, and to make an assessment of effectiveness.

This project is aimed at elderly wearers of implants who no longer go out, making it difficult to know how well the implant is working. Monitoring will be done at home by the team from the Institute for Cochlear Implants for the Paris Area (IFIC) and the Center for Adjustment of Cochlear implants (CRIC) of the Rothschild Hospital, Paris. The aim is to check the quality of the implant, the quality of its microphone, evaluate its performance and repair it where necessary and if possible (a stock of spare parts is made available).

Secondarily, the study will favor the setting up of a micro-network of professionals to provide back-up to the primary or secondary centers involved in the follow-up of children with implants. At the request of pediatricians performing implants, at-home monitoring can be used in the evaluation of these patients.
